Konyang University Lecture

Konyang University held a lecture on autonomous driving using artificial intelligence (AI) from April 28 to 30, aiming to respond to the Fourth Industrial Revolution and enhance the competitiveness of local talents.

Day 1: Principles of AI and Reinforcement Learning, Introduction to AWS DeepRacer

On the first day, April 28, participants explored the principles of artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, and how reinforcement learning works. They learned how to set up training accounts using AWS DeepRacer, configure models, and adjust input parameters and hyperparameters for reward functions.

Day 2: Simulator Practice and Reward Function Programming

On April 29, participants focused on programming reward functions for different driving conditions (Time Trial, Object Avoidance, Head to Bot) and practiced vehicle setup, connectivity, calibration, and running in autonomous mode.

Day 3: ROS2 Programming and Real-World Autonomous Driving Practice

On the final day, April 30, participants learned ROS2-based robot programming and conducted team-based autonomous driving exercises using real vehicles. The training concluded with a mini autonomous driving competition and evaluation, where participants applied their newly acquired skills and assessed their performance.

Students who participated in the program said, “The practical and hands-on lecture, which balanced theory and practice, significantly enhanced our understanding and application of autonomous driving technology.”
Konyang University plans to continue supporting the development of professionals in the field of autonomous driving.
