2024 Advanced Fields Innovation-Convergence University Future Mobility Consortium Event Outsourcing

On February 21, the 2024 Future Mobility Innovation-Convergence University AWS DeepRacer Championship League took place with great success. Organized by the Future Mobility Consortium for Advanced Fields Innovation-Convergence Universities and led by Inha University’s Future Mobility Program, the event was a racing-style competition using AI-based autonomous driving. Schools from across the consortium competed, fostering both rivalry and collaboration in the pursuit of new insights.
This year’s competition saw significantly revised rules compared to last year. The first mission followed a standard driving format, while the second mission introduced the world’s first box-obstacle avoidance challenge. Additionally, participants were required to give a PPT presentation explaining the algorithms they developed, emphasizing clear communication of their designs. These more challenging tasks stimulated creativity and teamwork among the students, as well as a deeper exploration of autonomous driving technology.
In the end, Team A.Eye Jr. from Inha University clinched victory by achieving a total perfect score of 100 points. In the first mission (standard driving), the team recorded 7.676 seconds, and in the second mission (obstacle avoidance), 7.7 seconds. Their custom-designed autonomous control system particularly stood out and received much attention.
This competition provided future mobility industry talents with valuable project experience, strengthening their understanding of AI and autonomous driving. Participants used this platform to evaluate one another’s technical capabilities and share the latest trends from both industry and academia.
The AWS DeepRacer Championship League has already become a hub of innovation and celebration for the next generation of engineers, serving as a critical catalyst for future technological advancements. Participating teams plan to leverage this experience to aim higher, and they are expected to show even more advanced capabilities in the years ahead.
